Asbestos removal should only be carried out by competent asbestos professionals, following approved safe working methods designed to control the release of fibres by using appropriate equipment and following recommended procedures. During removal, asbestos is to be sealed and disposed of promptly and appropriately.
The long-term health risks associated with exposure to asbestos fibres are recognised and treated seriously these days. An abundance of Health and Safety legislation exists detailing the legal responsibilities for all aspects of managing, handling and removing asbestos products.
Heavy fines and even custodial sentences are imposed on those deemed responsible for failing to exercise their duties of care.
Sarum Asbestos is available for specialist asbestos removal, offering a consultation service with asbestos sample analysis to all customers throughout Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and beyond.
Any contractor employed to work on your premises is required to have regular asbestos awareness training and should therefore be aware of their legal obligations.
Sarum Asbestos is pleased to offer professional advice to homeowners to help determine the potential risk of exposure to asbestos fibres involved and recommend control methods to protect yourself and those around you.

Contractors or employees likely to disturb asbestos in their normal day to day activities are required to attend regular asbestos awareness training and are required to carry out a number of checks before commencing work to prevent potential asbestos exposure.
This type of premises is required to hold an Asbestos Management Survey, which should be consulted prior to starting work to determine where asbestos has been identified and avoid causing any disturbance.
As there is no Asbestos Management Survey for this type of premises, all areas should be treated as if asbestos is present.
Any area for intrusive work should be checked for the presence of asbestos and tested where appropriate, before commencing work. Sarum Asbestos recommends this is carried out during early consultations with clients in order to avoid potential project delays and additional expense at a later stage.
Carry out all work with caution and stop work immediately if asbestos is suspected. Follow decontamination procedures and report findings as appropriate.
Asbestos in good condition should remain in place and be managed and monitored for any deterioration or damage, however, asbestos removal will need to be considered where a product has been damaged or is likely to be disturbed whilst carrying out work.
Before starting work, asbestos products require analysis and assessment to determine the potential for fibre release, the appropriate removal method and the measures necessary to control exposure to asbestos fibres.
Asbestos should only be handled by qualified persons, trained and experienced in the safe working methods for asbestos, using appropriate equipment.
